Our programs

McCarthy Mentoring offers formal, structured mentoring relationships for senior executives and their executive teams, high potential employees, emerging leaders and individuals who choose to privately engage a mentor.

Our mentoring programs are customised for a wide range of clients. In 2006 we established programs with Artsupport for over 25 major performing arts companies and indigenous arts companies where mentoring has been used to increase revenue through philanthropy.

Louise: I am the philanthropy manager at a state theatre company. I am new to the role but have considerable experience elsewhere and have raised more than $2 million in other roles. We have some great patrons and a high profile board who can potentially assist with fundraising but the CEO is not comfortable asking them to give or open doors. How can I influence him or move around him to achieve my philanthropy goals and succeed in my job?

Similarly, mentoring is a strong component in diversity programs and we have focussed on the needs of women where there is a company-wide commitment to develop and mentor women for leadership and senior management roles.

Angela: I am in a HR role with a listed company where I have worked for seven years. I am 35 with two small children and my husband has just been promoted to CEO of his organisation and will be working long hours. My company says I can work part time but that never really works and I want to be more involved in my kid's lives. How can I make it work for all of us? Should I resign?

For other companies mentoring programs have been developed to assist succession planning at the executive level and assisting people seeking directorships or who are first time non executive directors.

Jim: I am 53 years old and have worked in the public service my whole career. In the past decade I have been in 2IC roles or managed strategic projects and always assumed I would lead an agency. I am in the senior executive level and report to someone 10 years younger than me which I find difficult. I enjoy my job but will feel disappointed if I don't reach a leadership position. What are my options?
