McCarthy Mentoring

Wendy McCarthy established a mentoring mentoring business in 1998 when she was asked by the CEO of a global corporation to find mentors for a number of staff who were bright and ambitious but needed some assistance in understanding the "software" of corporate culture at a senior level.

Drawing on her educational background and long professional experience in a broad range of areas she matched the mentees with suitable external mentors.

She has since arranged hundreds of successful mentoring relationships for corporations, not-for-profits, the public sector and individuals.

In 2007 she renamed the business McCarthy Mentoring and has been joined by her daughter Sophie who is the General Manager.

McCarthy Mentoring programs aim to assist mentees to:

• Develop skills, knowledge and confidence
• Clarify professional and personal goals
• Develop professional networks
• Grow the culture of mentoring

McCarthy Mentoring provides experienced and wise mentors who are carefully selected from Wendy and Sophie’s extensive local and global networks.

McCarthy Mentoring manages the relationships and liaises with mentors, mentees and the Chief Executive Officer.

Our core business is providing external mentors to people in a range of organisations, however over the past decade McCarthy Mentoring has developed and implemented internal mentoring programs for a number of global and Australian corporations.

Mentoring programs work best when there is an organisational commitment to professional development and where mentoring is seen as a reward not remedial.

A growing part of the practice is working with individuals who engage us privately to manage a range of professional development issues such entering a new industry, securing non-executive directorships and planning their retirement from executive life.

McCarthy Mentoring charges a fee for placement and program management.
